So I know I haven’t been posting at all on this website. However, this will stop soon guys I promise! There are a few updates that I wanted to talk about.

If you go to a lot of videos you will notice that the title of the video is a blue. Yes that’s right! I have gotten the YouTube Shows feature and have made the respected shows.

You might of also noticed that the logos and graphics have changed. I have gotten some great new graphics and have already made a new template for the layout that will be default next month. I hope you enjoy them and I think that hes graphics are a lot better than the previous ones.

Lastly, I have started a new YouTube Show covering YouTube Partnerships. This series will have everything from Qualifications, the application process, using the features and more. If you have any questions about the partner program feel free to leave them in the comment section below. I will have an FAQ video up towards the end of the series.

I hope you enjoy these changes as much as I do! If you would like to subscribe to the Partnership Show Click Here

Today I published my first actual blog post on the website. This post wasn’t just a paragraph or so along with a video embedded. It was an actual post about my opinion with a tech debate that has hit congress. This was one of the longest blog posts I have ever made. Even though it was only around nine-hundred words it didn’t seem like it was that long. It seemed like it was actually quite short until I finished typing the entire thing. It took a good amount of time and time was just flying by. I don’t know the exact amount of time it took but it sure didn’t seem like long at all.

This specific blog post made me realize how much I like to blog. I can write some good posts that are highly educated and very persuasive. It can be very calming and relaxing to just sit down at the computer and just rant on about something in the tech world that’s bothering me. I like writing long things that aren’t just complete garbage and that people just ignore. A few minutes ago a few people didn’t believe that I actually wrote that blog post.

You know I like technology and that I’m a geek. It’s a technology website and YouTube channel for crying out loud! So I have decided that I like blogging and talking tech so much that I’m going to start write regular blog posts on here whenever I can. Unlike making a video, I don’t have to spend time making the video, edit the video, render the video, upload, and then create the metadata. I can just open up word and start typing what happens to be on my mind at the moment.

I have decided that most of these blog posts aren’t going to be tech news posts but reviews, guides, tips, rants, and more. You can go anywhere for tech news. There are so many tech news sites from CNET to TechnoBuffalo.

I’ve been quite busy with school and YouTube lately but I will try and post as often as I can. Stay tune for more great tech content coming your way!

The RIAA, MAPPA, etc. doesn’t like digital pirates and I don’t blame them. Every time someone pirates a song or a movie, the media company misses a chance to make some revenue. However, to say that these companies “lose money” because of piracy isn’t true. Majority of people that are online pirates do so because they don’t feel like they should have to pay for the content. Pirates don’t make them “lose money” because they aren’t taking away money from them. They aren’t directly stealing money from that media company at all. They are however, not making money off of that specific download. The people that want to pirate content wouldn’t pay for it if it was impossible to pirate. They simply just wouldn’t get the content at all. Therefore, all these media companies shouldn’t really be all that concerned to try to stop piracy.

I am writing this article because today is November 16, 2011. What is so important about this day? The senate is working on a new set of bills called “Stop Online Piracy Act” (SOPA) and iP Privacy Act. To make things easy for you to understand, these acts will censor the web and will change the internet as we know it.

These bills will allow you to not access copyright infringing websites. Sounds like something you can live with right? Well you won’t be thinking that for long. Not all websites are based in the US and there are plenty of servers that are located out of the United States. So what is the bills plan? The government or cooperation’s will be able to shutdown websites that are based in the US if they have anything to do with copyright infringement. Even posting a link to an external website could result in the website being shut down. But what about international websites? The government would require your local internet service provider to block these infringing websites. Sites like Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, and Even YouTube could be shut down if the website contains or supports any piracy.

This will ultimately lead to abuse of this tool and end up just censoring the internet. Pirates will still be able to get their content one way or another. So really this just leads to abuse and the internet being in control of businesses and the government. The music industry tried suing the original MP3 player manufacture and even Sony for their VCRs. They have sued children and people for singing along to their favorite song. Say goodbye to freedom of speech on the internet after this bill.

So if this bill isn’t the answer to end piracy then what is? Honestly their isn’t much that can be done to end piracy. Unless the government raids everyone and looks through their online activities, there isn’t anything that can be done. The RIAA is just simply trying to get more money for the music industry then they already have. They already have a ton of money and they don’t really need more money. However, I do feel that the ICANN should be able to shut down some infringement websites that directly promote piracy. Sites that directly encourage piracy should be able to be shutdown. However, the problem relies in what determines that.

Back in the early days of YouTube, Viacom tried to sue YouTube over and over. At the time, YouTube was made up of mainly copyrighted material. However, the courts found in favor of YouTube because the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) protects websites from things like this. However, in the terms of service, websites should be required to state in their terms of use that they cannot post nor distribute copyrighted content without proper permission from the copyright holder.

I think the real thing is that the DMCA is getting old. Things have changed for the better. We are in a digital revolution right now and things are constantly changing. The DMCA needs to rewritten to redefine what is considered digital copyright infringement and what counts as fair use. It should be legal for you to sing along to a song and upload it to YouTube. It should be legal to dance to your favorite jam and upload it to the web. There is a complete difference between downloading a complete copy of a DVD, selling DVDs to others and ripping them to put on your mobile device or to make a backup. Downloading movies and selling DVDs directly hurts the movie company. However, putting the video on your iPad for on the go or making a backup to prevent DVD damage is completely difference. There’s a difference between giving someone a ton of free music and singing along with a song. There is a difference.

It seems to me like when you ask someone if they would support an anti-piracy bill they would say yes. Most likely, the representatives, think that piracy is bad so an anti-piracy bill would be a good thing. However, “Piracy” and “copyright infringement” need to be redefined. It’s important to note that this bill hasn’t been passed yet. Nothing has been decided but there are several chances that this bill will indeed be passed. If you care about the internet I urge you to see the video below along with links to learn more and what you can do to stop this bill.

Today Barnes and Noble announced a new nook that is aimed directly to take a shot against the Kindle Fire. Announced today, the Nook Tablet will run at $250, feature the same display as the Nook Color, and Will Run for $250.

The tablet will be available on November 18th for $250 and will feature 1GB of Ram, a dual core gigahertz processor, 16GB of storage, and will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

What do you think about this device? I’m interested to hear what you have to say about it. I think they are both great devices and we will just have to wait and see which device will do better. Really when It Comes down to cheap tablets, the thing that will matter the most is price.
